Teri M.

To all of you, including the senator, who wish to take the second amendment rights away from US citizens; i ask you to consider my short story.

After being the victim of domestic violence for more than a year, I took my 2 year old daughter and left the state and my abusive ex behind. about 5 months later he shows up at my house (luckily when my child and I were out), and killed our dog and wrecked the house. I moved again. Last month I got a call from the local police asking about my ex, and they said they believe that he is in the area again. I have a restraining order against him, but I know that the police can not be everywhere. I carry a handgun for protection, and will do so even if it is made illegal. Please do not take away my right to protect my child and myself!

“assault weapon” IS A MADE UP TERM BY THE LEFT. Too many people hear “assault weapon” and think automatic weapon or machine gun. It is NOT. Go out and educate people about this FACT.

As someone who has grown up in Senator Feinstein’s district I can tell you that after my childhood I refuse to give up my second amendment. Guns run rampant around here and have only gotten worse in the last ten years. Whether it’s kids who have them or moving the gangs from LA to here, what she preaches in D.C. has seen no affect here. I find it hard to take someone who had a conceal carry permit but makes it harder for me to have one, is on the side of a party that ran Full Auto with High Capacity Magazines which I can’t own to the biggest smugglers affecting the southwest. And she want’s me to turn in my protection KISS MY ASS.

Is it not amazing that the SAME people that have armed guards to protect them want to take and trash the 2nd Amendment? They have ALL taken an oath to uphold the Constitution and all they are doing is following the ‘communist playbook’ and trying to disarm the citizens. Do they NOT understand why we have a Constitution?

Khris, I’m on your side. Senator Feinstein lies. I wrote her once regarding our Second Amendment and she wrote back saying was not against it. Then I found out about her 60 minute interview and the results you saw. She wanted them all. In 1968 under the gun control act, our semi-automatic weapons were classified as assault weapons. As I have read. The big boy, the resident of our house in D.C. wanted the ATF to classify our weapons as Title 2 and place them in the same catagory as fully automatic weapons and machine guns. This is getting crazy. It is all about control and once they have taken our weapons this administration can do anything it wants to do against the people. They have whipped the media into a frenzy and all you hear about is our AR 15′s or any weapon that resembles a military weapon as being fully automatic and an assault weapon. Not one of them would take the time or effort to read what an assault weapon is. These weapons we have are sport versions of military style weapons but do not function as such. They have no regard to our Second Amendmnet right to keep and bear arms and now we have Sen.Feinstein and MR. Obama wanting to take our weapons away with total disregard of our Constitution or our Second Amendment. The Dick Act of 1902 protected our rights to keep and bear arms and that cannot be repealed. She and none of our representatives have done anything to uphold the oath they took to defend the Constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic. She said these weapons are not for hunting, that depends on what her version and our versions are regarding hunting. I will leave that one to your imagination. We are armed to prevent tyranny and an out of control govermnet and that is how we would like to keep it.

No one wants to make all guns illegal. Well, maybe some people do, but they’re in the vast minority. Most reasonable gun-control advocates DO NOT WANT TO BAN GUNS. They, myself included, simply want some rational regulations installed that (1) increase safety, (2) decrease the potential for misuse, and (3) preserve the Second Amendment guarantees.

There are lots of left-leaning people who own guns. They’re hunters, hobbyists, police, etc. None of them want to eliminate guns from our country. But, isn’t there a reasonable middle ground between “BAN ALL GUNS” and “MY COLD DEAD HANDS”?

Put it this way: if giving up the 30-round magazine for your Glock pistol (not the pistol itself or the 9-shot clips, just the high-cap clip) meant preventing another Sandy Hook-style massacre, why wouldn’t you do it? Are your “rights” to a piece of hardware that provides no demonstrable benefit to you more important than the lives of 20 first graders?

If only that were true. If history has shown us anything, it’s that it will never stop. First we lose the 30 round mags.
Then the 10 round will be next. Then “you don’t need a semi automatic weapon” IT NEVER STOPS.
The reason for the 2A was written for a reason. That reason stood then and it stands now.

Because it hasn’t worked. Ever notice almost all massacres take place in “Gun Free Zones” – not in places where law-abiding citizens legally carry firearms?
The ONLY way to stop more Sandy Hook massacre is with ARMED RESISTANCE by citizens/teachers at the schools. Check out states that have done this – No massacres. Criminals pick the easy targets…

And for perspective, firearms-related deaths is way down on the list of leading causes of death to children. Where’s the outrage for parental abuse/murder and drunk driving?

How often it is that yet another liberty is curtailed behind the plea, “But if sacrificing this small freedom will save even one life, will it not be worth it?” What convoluted reasoning is this that inspires such a cry? How is such obscurity a justification for liberty’s further decline? The spirits of those who gave their very lives to preserve our liberty are repulsed each time we surrender more of it for some pittance of perceived security.

In other news, the mysteries surrounding the Sandy Hook shooting just keep getting deeper.

Over the last several days, Natural News has been hounded by readers asking us to either dismiss or confirm a rumor that’s been spreading around lately concerning a United Way fundraising relief page on Sandy Hook being created three days BEFORE the actual shooting took place.

I know, it sounds like an urban legend. So I checked it out, and to my great surprise, I found the rumor was completely true. Here’s what I found:

Even if you eliminate all guns in the entire world it will not prevent another Sandy Hook. Just look at how the biggest school massacre in US history happened. I’m all for having rational discussions about how to try and reduce mass killings and even willing to entertain restrictions on guns but anyone that believes “assault” weapons or high capacity magazines are the fix for that aren’t paying any attention to history or what’s going on in the world today.

Instead we get people that try to pick what they believe is low hanging fruit without ever making an honest attempt at solving the issue. If you’re devastated by the killings in Newtown then let’s have a serious discussion on that the root cause of that issue and how to resolve it. I guarantee you more useless gun laws isn’t the answer.

The shooter at Sandy Hook had 4 weapons. 4×9=36 rounds. Still enough to do what he did. Reducing Clips is no answer. Gun laws make it harder on the people who want to go through the legal process. Nuts and criminals aren’t about to go through a background check. The only way to stop this is to deal with the mental illness that seems apparent in both the Sandy Hook and Aurora Killings.

You see that is what you do not get. Only I, a law abiding gun owner will be giving up my 30 round magazine, not the criminal! Do you think the looney criminal is going to say, ” Well I really wanted to go shoot up a mall but darn, I can’t use my 30 round magazine that I bought from a gang member because it is illegal?” Assault is a behavior not a piece of equipment and if guns are taking away they will simply go down the line to the next most convienient way of killing people in mass.

Columbine happened smack dab in the middle of the last gun ban (which limited magazine capacity to ten rounds). Didn’t work. Time and time again gun control of any type is proven ineffective. But lefties and others continue to ignore the facts. Knee-jerk reactions to tragedy has NEVER prevented further tragedies. It is the person and NOT the inanimate object. PERIOD!

I do not see the rationalization here. How does me giving up any of my guns or even parts of my guns prevent someone else from doing a Sandy Hook? Case in point, I do not have a 100-round drum for any of my weapons… and my not having it did not prevent Sandy Hook from happening. Your statement may seem feasible on the surface… but after that it loses all cohesion. You want to infringe the rights of the vast majority of people (all gun owners) due to the actions of a very small few. That is not what this country is about. We are punished for crimes committed… that we commit ourselves… we are not punished for crimes someone else commits or *may commit* and frankly, I refuse to let MY rights and wants be dictated based on the actions of a few bad people. Take away all the guns in the world, and there will still be bad people. Ask Timothy McVeigh… what kind of guns did he use to kill 162 people back in 1995? That’s right, he used garden fertilizer… where is your cry to ban that? Where is your cry to tell people how large their lawns can be and how green they can be? More people are maliciously killed by hammers than are killed by rifles in this country every year… where is your outrage against hammers? Why are you not out picketing Stanley and Ace Hardware? Fifty times more people are killed in car accidents each year…. and the same number of people are killed by falls… yet no one is screaming to ban cars or gravity. “Oh, well, it is guns and they are yucky, so it is okay to infringe ‘THEIR’ rights”. In this country we believe in “innocent until proven guilty” and that applies to the suspects… the people we actually think and usually pretty much know committed the crimes. Those who would use this opportunity to take our guns or even a facet of gun ownership away from us not only do not believe in “innocent until proven guilty” but “everyone is guilty”. That is not America and to suggest otherwise is nothing short of unAmerican. You may not value your rights… but the rest of us do so stop thinking you speak for us when you say what you said in your comments above. Have a nice day.

Itchy – The answer is pretty simple. We can eliminate probably 95% to 99% of the school shootings to have either armed security or armed teachers or both at every school. If you do not believe armed security will work just ask obama to give up his Secret Service protectors, or ask Rahm Emanuel to give up his armed protection. Do our children mean less to us than a mayor, or even a President? Were any of my children threatened I would far rather they kill or injure the mayor or the President. Heck, we can elect another President, and in fact I am sure we will, but one of my children cannot be replaced!!

As for a 10 round clip versus a 30 round – I can change a clip in less than 2 seconds so what would be gained by that? It takes these not cases many minutes to shoot a large number of people, not seconds. Besides, every school shooter in history has broken existing law before they ever started shooting. Almost 100% of them has been armed with weapons obtained illegally, and not one of them has ever been obtained at a gun show either. So clip size has not mattered, gun shows have not mattered, but what has mattered is the fact every one of them was mentally ill…which DOES matter, yet what is being discussed in terms of how we identify these people before that kill someone? I have yet to hear any proposal on how to identify those ill people before they perform some terrible, but foreseeable, act.

No, gun control is not about controlling guns, it is about controlling people. An armed person is a citizen, an unarmed person is a slave….and I refuse to submit and accept being sold into slavery by some politician wanting more POWER over us!

First off, the number of incidents involving long guns in general (that includes the so called “assault rifle” ) is very small, you can point to a few recent incidents but the number of rifle related deaths annually is right around 337 or so (2011 FBI statistics http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/table-20 )

That’s all rifles total so the number of deaths caused by AR15 or AK 47 looking rifles is far less than 337. By contrast, there were 1743 people killed with knives that same year and 737 killed just by hands and feet. You dont hear anyone talking about controlling knives or banning fast cars yet far more people are killed each year via those devices, so lets not talk about murders by rifles like it’s some raging epidemic that the government needs to control.

The matter of 30 round magazines is irrelevant. The shooter at VA Tech used very simple, commonly owed hand guns that utilize 10 or 12 round magazines. He simply brought multiple magazines. You solve nothing by making a 30 round magazine illegal. Nothing. The shooter could have just as easily brought several revolvers and speed loaders to the same effect.

While we’re on the subject of magazines, a certain news hosts insists on repeating “why does anyone need an AR15 rifle?”

First: The truth is bad things happen in life and the Founding Fathers knew this well. Governments do oppress the people, it does happen, if you read even a little about history you will find numerous examples of governments oppressing the people. Even supposed democratic governments where the people get to “elect” their dear leaders. It’s not that specific individuals in government are evil but governments by their nature feed off the people. And when you have a branch of government who’s sole job is to make more and more laws you are eventually going to run out of liberty. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not anti government, government is a necessary evil that must be constrained, monitored and never allowed to dominate it citizens. The way you do this is to keep the people armed in such a manner that the can pose a credible threat to government oppression.

Second: The truth is bad things happen in life and the Founding Fathers knew this well. Just ask the people who were trapped after hurricane Katrina or the riots in LA. Roving bands of lawless thugs took to the streets, murdering and looting at will, unmolested by police. This happens, it’s mob mentality, its terrifying and if you are caught in it you will most likely die unless you have some mechanism to defend yourself, your family, friends and home. The shop owners in LA didn’t stand up to the hundreds of looters, murderers and brutes with a revolver, they stood on the roof with rifles, semi automatic AK 47s and AR15s. Guess who got left alone by the murdering hordes…exactly. They were not victims they were citizen exercising their right to defend them selves as guaranteed by the Constitution. You don’t know what terrifying is until you suddenly find your self in a life or death situation with no way to effectively defend yourself and knowing that you are going to most likely be killed or having to watch someone you love be raped or murder. Sit with that for a moment – If you can’t sympathize with that experience you need professional help.

Third: I enjoy shooting sports. I’ve never been good at football to base ball or any physical sports and quite frankly never had much interest in playing them. I do, however really enjoy shooting. There are competitions for shooting distance, and events where you are timed moving from station to station shooting and many of these sports utilize AR15s. I’m tired of blowhard politicians and media nits spouting off that there is no purpose for AR15s other than killing people. If you don’t know what you are talking about then just shut up and let the knowledgable people educate you .

The recent shootings where horrific, all violent crime is and as a victim or family member of a victim it changes you forever. Period. It is important to remember however that in the last thirty years there have been very few people killed with AR 15s. Other than some highly publicized shootings over the last few years crimes committed with these firearms are statistically non existent and all of the crimes committed with these weapons could just as easily been committed with a hunting rifle or a handgun. Banning AR15s or 30 round magazines does nothing to reduce crime, all it does is take a valuable tool away from law abiding citizens.

We don’t ban fast cars because some people act irresponsibly and kill someone with their car! That would be outrageous and there are far more children killed in automobiles in one year than have ever been killed by AR15s.the reason we don’t ban cars is because even though they are inherently dangerous they are of great utility. Our modern existence is largely dependent on them so we trade off some security for the independence, freedom, autonomy and in many case fun associated with driving. The exact same is true for firearms.

All you anti gun folks who insist on saying things like “if everyone else in the Aurora theatre had a gun there would have been even more blood shed”, listen up. 42 states in this country allow law abiding citizens to carry concealed firearms. Not everyone carries a gun, some estimates show that fewer than 15 %. No one is saying “everybody should carry a gun”. many people choose not to own or carry a gun and that’s fine. if there had been a few armed citizens in that room it could have altered the outcome. There’s no guarantee but at least there would have been a fighting chance. Please don’t tell me that an armed citizen could not have done anything because the shooter wore body armor or that it was to dark or there was smoke. You don’t know what you are talking about. Getting hit by a bullet, even with body armor hurts and is enough to make you take cover. Body armor doesn’t mean you can’t be injured or killed, ask any war vet or policeman.

Next I suppose the gun control folks will say ” if you tried to shoot the shooter you might have hit an innocent person.” I admit it would be possible but innocent people were already being shot. Even if an innocent person had been hit by a citizen shooting back in self defense, if he diverts the shooter from murdering even more people then you have the lesser of two evil outcomes.

That’s just the way it is. Life is inherently dangerous and you can’t legislate danger away. Yes you can regulate activity to minimize risk but still bad things are going to happen and people will continue to do bad things. In the end each of us is responsible for ourselves. Having the option to keep and bear firearms is an inherent right of all free men.

Another thing, I’m tired of hearing that us “gun nuts” won’t allow any restriction at all. Nonsense. We have been subject to numerous laws an regulation over the years – we can no longer register fully automatic weapons, thereby driving the cost of these weapons out of the reach of most people, we have submitted to background checks and investigations, we have to go through a regulated federal process and, in most cases, a state process to purchase certain semi automatic rifles, even though they are rarely used in crimes. All this we have been encumbered by in the name of ” public safety” and for the most part the shooting community has learned to live with these restrictions even if we’re not all happy about it.

I am sick of hearing nitwit politicians and TV hosts saying “oh you are against regulations – you all want to walk around with bazookas”. That is probably the most immature facile anti – gun statement. Shoulder fired weapons are not being discussed, no one is asking to be allowed to carry around a rocket launcher. What we are asking for is rational, intelligent discussion based on fact and the truth is we do not have some epidemic of assault weapon violence in this country that requires a ban of some of the most commonly used firearms today.

Most gun violence occurs in urban areas with poor education systems and poor job prospects. If you want to impact violent crime, figure out how to better educate people and create meaningful jobs that will help lift them out of poverty. That would go a long way to reducing violence. Banning a class of weapons because the news has whipped everyone into believing we have thousands of people being killed every year by “assault weapons” does nothing but piss off law abiding gun owners.

Well, the problem their-in is that all gun laws do is infringe on the law abiding citizen. If any politician was to guarantee that the next law passed these tragedies would end then maybe we could look at it but you know as well as everybody else that criminals do not care about laws, they never did, they never will. That’s why they’re called criminals. When a politician guarantees something like healthcare will not cost you one dime more, or, you can keep your doctor and health plan or, I did not have sexual relations with that woman, you know it is always the exact opposite that happens.

@ Itchy Ike, If you really cared, you’d want to see stiffer penalities for those people whom use firearms to commit crimes. Like amending the laws that exist to state that if you do use a firearm in the commission of a crime, you automatically get upgraded to 4x the punishment. So if knocking off the local 7/11 store nets you 5 years, then it should be upgraded to 20 years w/o parole. Criminals don’t pay attention to your laws or bans. Simple as that. But you change something that WILL AFFECT THEM, then you’ll get their attention. What you’ll witness is crowbars and baseball bats being used in crimes instead of firearms. But let’s be honest here. Fuc’n crazy is just that…FUC’N CRAZY. You can’t legislate that. People wanting to do harm will find ways to do harm. Be it a firearm, knife (see China story same day as Sandy Hook) or a bomb. And you want middle ground? How’s this for a proposal. I’ll give up my guns when the Secret Service, FBI, Federal Marshalls, TSA, DHS, State Police, Local Sheriff’s and Local Police give up theirs. How’s that sound? Cause if I don’t need anything to protect myself or my family, then they shouldn’t either. Because bad guys won’t have guns right? Maybe now you’ll see how ignorant your statement is about coming to middle ground. Talk about ignorant statements: Your question about a 30 Round Magazine for my Glock?!? You’d not give up your right to free speech to prevent another Oklahoma City Bombing would you? Me asking you that question is about as stupid as you asking yours.

Say What?? 1) Banning ANY guns leads to the slippery slope. Eventually, ALL weapons would be banned. I GUARRANTEE IT!! 2)Even if modern sporting rifles had been banned at the time of Sandy Hook, the killer had 2 pistols tucked. Nearly the same amount of dead anyway. 3) “Gun-free” zones don’t work. All the university shootings, school shootings, and Aurora were all “gun-free” zones. Proves that criminals don’t care about gun laws and will kill anyway. Same argument goes for the banning of “more than 10-round magazines” SO with more restrictive gun laws crime doesn’t decrease yet law-abiding citizens loose their rights and the Constitution is violated, YET AGAIN. Owe-bama and the Left are treating the Bill of Rights like it was a a two-bit whore. 4) A national gun registry is also a violation of the Constitution as it is an infringement on the right to bear and keep arms. AND it is ALWAYS the first step to complete banning of weapons (confiscation). Don’t believe me? Google Nazi Germany Gun Control law of 1938. 5) If ANY further gun laws go into effect Owe-bama can legally use Executive Orders to make those laws stricter. We MOST CERTAINLY couldn’t trust him not to. He is a liar. 5) The weapons used in Sandy Hook were ILLEGALLY obtained. Even with some of the most restrictive state gun laws in the country, a criminal was STILL able to get a weapon and cause death. 6) Legislating based on “emotion”, which is what is happening here and in which the Left is masterfully expert, is very, very bad policy, and nearly, if not, always leads to terrible laws for the country. 9) ‘DON’T’ call 30-round magazines that are used in modern sporting rifles, “hi-cap clips”-They are neither “hi-cap” nor “clips”. They are called “standard-cap magazines”. A “hi-cap” for modern sporting rifles would hold 60 or 100 rounds. For a Glock 9mm, it would hold 33 rounds. For a Walther PPQ in .40 S&W it would be 14 rounds. 8) National Firearms Acts on the books are, IMHO, unconstitutional as they are an infringement on the right to bear and keep arms. Peace out.

Firstly, I won’t pretend to speak for others because I KNOW I do not. Secondly, I don’t own a Glock, nor do I have any particular desire to do so. Thirdly, and this is gonna be the hard one, yes, my right to be free from tyranny, to defend myself as I see fit is more important to me than 20 first graders or 200 or 2,000 or 2,000,000. That’s because the alternative is living under the thumb of a tyrannical government and at the mercy of the local criminal population. And THAT is no way to live, ESPECIALLY for 20 first graders or 200 or 2,000 or 2,000,000.

The second amendment is about the right of the individual to arm him or her self in defense against a tyrannical or usurpatious government. The fact that there is even a discussion in the halls of power in this country about disarming the citizenry is a tyranny in and of itself.

So, no. I will not willingly give up a single shred of what is left of my second amendment rights. We already have limitations on our rights that we all consider “reasonable” and that includes the right to bear arms.

Liberals often point to the fact that, after an incident such as Sandy Hook, the “gun nuts” come out of the woodwork screaming loudly about not giving up their rights. It doesn’t seem to dawn on them that this may be because, after an incident such as the one at Sandy Hook, the “gun grabbers” come out of the woodwork screaming loudly about taking away those rights. Invariably, this results in a lot of name calling and vitriol on both sides of the issue and nothing gets done. Each side wants to call the other names rather than resolving the problem. For reference, this is the kind of behavior one normally associates with young children, say … 4 or 5 years old.

I’m not interested in name calling. I’m interested in solving the problem. I believe there IS a solution somewhere between “BAN THEM ALL” and “FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS”. Here’s what I propose. Mental healthcare is in a woeful state in this country. That needs to be resolved. Next, those with violent criminal behavior in their past should lose the right to bear arms until such time as they can demonstrate that they can behave appropriately and be a responsible member of society. Next, we need to sort out the horrid recidivism problem. I’d submit that the way to do this is to simply decriminalize possession and sale of marijuana. This would let us get quite a lot of non-violent offenders out of the prison system, freeing up space and funding for those who probably ought to spend more time there rather than being released early. As a matter of fact, one could even legalize the sale of marijuana, as we have with alcohol, and then regulate and tax that sale. Voila, instant governmental income and reduced administrative overhead. Next, abolish the “Gun Free School Zone” and allow the teachers to decide on their own whether they need to be armed and, if so, provide appropriate training to those teachers.

So what does this accomplish? We’ve improved our mental healthcare, letting us find those in need of mental help before it becomes an issue. We’ve (probably) reduced our overall prison population allowing us to keep those who most need it locked away. Additionally, we’ve generated some additional income for the government which could ultimately be used to fund mental health programs. We’ve improved the security of the children at schools. Finally, we’ve accomplished all of this without trampling ANYONE’S rights. Win-win, yes?

You are a smart guy, what happened with the guy in China who killed over 20 unarmed school children with a knife, same day as NewTown?

What about the shooting in the school by the boy with the bow and arrow, shot his own dad in the head?

    Itchy Ike ,

Most libs and progs do want to ban all guns as they follow anything that their dear leader says. Also they all love the bill mahers, piers morons, of the world because they are so Intellectual and intelligent. (atleast in their minds they are). So you claim that banning high cap magazines (they are not called clips like hollywood wants you to think) will stop a sandy hook from happening? Ok so lets look at that for a sec. In 1994-2004 a high capacity magazine ban was in place and yet columbine still happend. Oklahoma bombing happend (he didn’t even need a ‘clip’ yo). California still has a ban on more than 10 round mags and so does chicago, and new york. It sure is stopping massacres and shootings in those places huh.

I would like to know how a 10 round magazine would have stopped 20 kids from being killed. I can reload a mag in my gun in about 1 second. Sorry thats not enough time to rush me. Also he had multiple guns. So now before I run out of ammo I pull out my next gun and continue shooting with my other hand so when the first one runs out I can then grab another one. I could keep doing that till I run out of room on my body to store 10 rd pistols with a singal magazine. So what then do we need to ban holsters now cause I can carry more than one gun at a time? I am sure that would be the next thing.

Last point my second ammendment right is not to be infringed upon. PERIOD!!! It was guaranteed to me because of governments like our current one, which thinks that they have the right to dictate what I can and can’t do in my life all the way down to me wanting to drink soda. If we actually followed the 2nd ammendment like we are suppose to, we would have access to fully automatic weapons just like the military does. Not some class 3 bull crap where the gun costs $25,000 and I have to pay a tax, get permission from a local LEO, and can only buy ones made before 1986. You need to read over the 2nd a little more cause its not there to be infinged upon like it currently is, or for sport/recreation, Its for me to defend my self and others from our worthless government.

So should it be legal to scream fire in a crowded movie theater just to cause chaos? Even the 1st amendment has common sense limits on it.

If someone screams fire in a theater I am not going to just jump out of my seat and start trampling people like you would. I would use common sense and look for acutal evidence that there is one. With the stupidity of people now days I don’t take anyones word as the absolute truth and neither should you.

Yes… COMMON SENSE limits… key term COMMON SENSE. And the limit you state is a limitation of ACTIONS. Murder is an ACTION and I am pretty sure that is illegal already. So why do we need to go any farther than that? We have a law that (much like the no yelling movie in a crowded fire house) you cannot murder people. So by your logic, that is already covered. If you yell MOVIE in the crowded firehouse you are arrested and charged with a crime… if you murder someone (with a car, a gun, a knife, a hammer, throw them out a window, make them watch reruns of Gilligan’s Island, poison their food, TNT suppositories, etc.) it is illegal and you get tried and punished… either by a long prison sentence or by lethal means. The moral equivalence you are trying to attach to your argument (which by the way, shows your bias against guns) is to do away with the movie theater in hopes that it will stop all movie theater shootings. “If you outlaw movie theaters, then only outlaws will go to them” seems to be your motto. And you mentioned common sense. The government does not know what common sense is anymore. Government is the very people who bring you statements like “you have to vote for it before you can know what is in it” and “I was against it before I was for it” and “it depends on what your meaning of the word ‘is’ is”. Looking to the government for common sense is like looking to Michael Moore or Rosie O’Donnell for weight-loss advice.

I agree with you. I would like to point out that there are already total agreement and acceptance on limits on the second amendment. The limits are cannon, grande launcher, rocket launchers Armour piercing rounds etc.

The constitution promotes a well armed militia capable of defending personal and state sovereignty from for or domestic enemy/ invasion.
We need adult semi automatic to even come CLOSE to a 10th of a chance to fulfill this mandate in this era of modern warfare.

Image how out gunned were already if it was the Federal Government using Predator and Reaper drones, guided by 3D google maps to mark our front doors, HAARP weapons, energy beam weapons, space based weapons etc etc, and you want to take our pea shooters by comparison.

Prisoners, slaves and surfs are not allowed to be armed.

First off, THIS IS AWESOME. I’m so glad Ares stepped up and did this.

Second, to Teri, from all DECENT men, I apologize for your life being wrecked by your ex. Any real man would respect and protect his wife and child, not abuse and terrorize them. He is no more a man than my 4 year old daughter. I wish you the best of luck in protecting yourself and your family.

As for this gun ban nonsense, I say this in all caps because I feel I have to yell it in people’s face for them to “get it”: CRIMINALS DON’T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE LAW. PERIOD. If they are hell bent on killing, THEY WILL FIND A WAY. Knives, baseball bats, hammers, axes, screwdrivers, large wrenches, poisons, bombs, hell even ROPES can be used to kill people. Are we going to ban them when somebody goes on a stabbing rampaged (It happened in Asia THE SAME DAY as the Sandy Hook tragedy).

What we need is a well-armed, well-TRAINED society. Just look to Israel if you don’t believe me. They have a culture that respects others because there is a very real chance any given person could be armed. THAT’S the way it ought to be here too.

We’re supposed to allow Ms. Feinstein to dictate what our rights our when she not even smart enough to purchase her own name as a domain name?

Great lack of foresight Ms. Feinstein. What century do you think this is? I’m 66 and even I know to have my own name registered as a domain name.

What did you forget or get wrong in your travesty of a rights violating bill? Did you even read your own bill? What about the fact that you yourself have a carry license (and I presume you are armed most of the time)? Why do you have the right to self defense but we the people don’t? What gives you the right to dictate what is an adequate tool for self defense for others?

I’ll tell you; nothing gives you the right. The founding fathers took that privilege off the table for you and your ilk. In fact they wrote the 2nd amendment with folks just like you in mind. That this country has violated firearms owners rights for so long is a testament to the patience, forbearance and willingness to cooperate with our elected government of firearms owners.

    Until now.

You have stepped across a line that we will not allow. If you persist and through legal manipulation manage to pass such a bill, there will be a reckoning and you will have willfully forced it to come to pass.

Welcome to the 21st century. Now please step aside you’re treading on my rights.

I, like every other caring person, am shocked & saddened by the horrific shootings…But I can’t see how doing “Window dressing” things like banning this type of gun because of its looks, or magazinesbecause of their capacity is going to make any difference whatsoever. Its just “Feel Good” knee-jerk legislation. The only way to be SOMEWHAT rid of the problem of gun violence in this country would be confiscation-And even then, you STILL wouldn’t come close to getting rid of all of them. I also have a problem w/any law that would make CRIMINALS overnight of millions of otherwise law abiding citizens.

She can protect her own family but she doesnt want us to be able to? I thunk theres too much crack smoking going on! No female in their right mind would want any man, woman or child be left defenseless unless of course they were on crack and didnt give a damn! Makes ya wonder!

I was stalked for more than two years. I did everything that the law allowed me to do in order to afford my safety. It was fruitless.

The perpetrator ignored everything. Even after I had spent over $3,000 in DNA testing to prove that he had been on my property. Law enforcement and many attorneys told me that the DNA proof meant nothing unless this person harmed me in any way.

The perpetrator pulled in front of my house one night as he had done many times. This time I saw him and I was home alone. I turned off my security system, picked up my cordless phone, dialed 911, then proceeded to walk into my backyard and put the loaded .45 right up to the temple of this person’s head. I have a copy of the tape and I am extremely calm while the 911 operator is almost begging me to put down the gun. What?

Within 30 seconds, police surround me and this person. One officer was yelling at me to shoot this person. I did not shoot.

I had a restraining order and a carry permit. It meant nothing and was not worth the paper on which it was written.

Needless to say, I was never stalked again. I am not sure if it was the gun to the temple or my instructions to this person of “if you breathe, you die.”

I will not willingly give up my firearms. In the words of Leroy Jethro Gibbs “when you peel it from my cold, dead body.”

Yes, Feinstein and everyone else that wants to restrict guns further needs to explain to me why they have effectively disarmed my wife and daughter. It’s as if they want them to be easy targets for rapists and thugs. Before anyone trots out that old “it’s more likely to be taken away” BS, just stow that. Statistics show that to be flat out wrong and a Brady center lie. Why are you disarming out loved ones, Senator Feinstein?

So a shooter walks in with a handgun and a pocket full of 9 round MAGAZINES. Since no one is there to stop him, he can shoot the place up reload and shoot some more… reload shoot some more. He can take his time since no one can do anything to stop him. Who knows how long until the cops show up… (what was it in the Norway shooting? 90 minutes??)

So what has banning 30 round MAGAZINES accomplished? Anything?

If the problem is violent crime in school, then put cops in schools. Problem solved. Maybe it will help with the drug and gang problem in schools too….

I live in a state where the governor wants to come into my house and take my guns. He is also talking about mags holding less then 10 rounds. We already have a assault rifle ban and mags can only hold 10 rds but this ahole want to add more guns to the list. By now you know this is New York the land of you can’t have that, tax increases.
I have a pistol permit, my renewal fee went from $25 to $200. I hear that they want to up it to $1,000.

I love it. The anti speak with out a clue as normal. If you are going to be against something, at least learn a little about it.
Clips? You you know what a clip is? I know you dont. Modern firearms do not use clips. they use magazines. That is the box shaped thing that holds the bullets.
A clip is a stampped cheet metal clip clamp that hold bullets before loading into the magazine. There hasent been a Clip fed firearm made in atleast 65 years!!!!!!!.
    Glocks dont hold 30 rounds.
How can you fear something that you really know nothing about?
Read a book and turn off the constant lies from the media.
Do you know why the second ammendment is even there?
It was written to prevent a Government from getting too much power. Thus meaning the people have the right to fight back. You can not fight a fully equiped army with a shotgun and a revolver. You need the same weapons ate eh military. We all ready are grossly underarmed as it is thanks to the GCA of 1934. Now you will say they had muskets not AR15′s Well yup the armys had muskets so the people had muskets. Made it equal. Now the Military has tanks and stealth fighters. What do we have? Guns that still only fire one bullet everytime you pull the trigger. That and a president that is hell bent on making us a fully socialist country and slashing our rights with a axe.
Read some history of the world for the last 120 years or so. Look what happened every time a country disarmed its people. EVERY TIME!!! Look at other events going on during those times. You will see that it is the exact same thing that is going on now in politics. History is repeting itself and the democrats know it. They love it because they know the liberal will not research anyting or believe any history, but they are easily swayed with a smile and false promises.
Read some history. Millions upon millions dead dont lie.

First, your premise assumes that eliminating large capacity magazines will end mass murders. Simply not true and cannot be true.

There are philosophic and economic arguments here. We have freedom as a consequence of free will and our Constitutional republic. Unless and until someone invents a device that can read minds, no regulation can prevent a mass murderer from striking again.

Mass murderers may be crazy (or not) but they are usually smart. As so many have posted above, there are plenty of readily available alternatives to large capacity magazines…namely, small capacity magazines.

Another point to consider is the unintended effects of prohibition. A mass murderer, as with any economic activity, derives something from his actions. He will not be dissuaded by a lack of one tool…he will merely change to another. It is axiomatic that banned objects very often cause an economic shift to a more deadly object. For example, drug smugglers may shift from smuggling pot (high volume concealment) to meth…low volume, more profitable.

The next most readily available inanimate object a mass murderer might choose (besides explosives, which has already been done) is an automobile. Contemplate what you could do with an SUV or stolen dump truck at a school playground.

Finally, you may be sincere that you don’t want to ban guns, but as a group, the anti gun forces marshaling now DO want to ban guns, and really don’t care about the facts. So excuse me if I look at your claim with a jaundiced eye…
